What Is A Deacon ?

A Deacon is one who serves.

The office of deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ.  Persons of spiritual character, honest repute, of exemplary lives, brotherly and sisterly love, warm sympathies, and sound judgment should be chosen for this office.

It is the duty of deacons, first of all, to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith.  They shall assume such other duties as may be delegated to them from time to time by the session, such as leading the people in worship through prayers of intercession, reading the Scriptures, presenting the gifts of the people and assisting with the Lord's Supper......Book of Order

Deacons Prayer Chain We are in the process of reviving the Prayer Chain.  A Prayer Chain is a listing of members who would like to receive a call when prayers are needed for individuals in  the congregation.  The first person receives the call, prays, calls the next person on the list who will then continue the chain.  If you have any immediate prayer requests, or would like to be included in the Prayer Chain, please call Nancy Myers (908) 832-0762.

Deacons Caring Friends Meals: We would like to offer our help to the church family in its time of need by providing meals.  Please contact the church office (832-2154)  to arrange.  We are also in need of volunteers to help in the preparation and delivery of meals.  If you feel called to serve, please call the church office (832-2154) to be included in our list of volunteers.
